Toilet Tour

Don’t Flush Raleigh’s History!

Huge Thanks to the Community for Joining Our Plumbing Pilgrimage

We are still buzzing from the incredible turnout and enthusiasm at our November 16 Toilet Tour! Thank you so much to everyone who came out to explore the history of plumbing, water history and adaptive reuse here in Raleigh.

From the high-tanked Mauretania to the frost-proof Vogel, we covered centuries of sanitation innovation in our city!

Huge thanks are due to our amazing Event Committee for their vision, our dedicated volunteers who kept everything running smoothly, our generous sponsors who provided crucial support, and especially our wonderful house hosts for opening their historic doors to us. Your collective hard work made this event possible!

If you missed it, here are the locations that opened their doors (and restrooms!) for us:

🚽Mordecai Historic Park

🚽Lamar Hall

🚽Raleigh Water Tower

🚽Caraleigh Mill Village Privy

🚽 1887 Pump House

🚽 Haywood Hall

Stay tuned as we dive deeper into the history of each of these fascinating locations with an upcoming blog post.
